Honor Magic V5: The World’s Thinnest Foldable Phone with Big Upgrades

The Honor Magic V5 has officially launched, establishing itself as the thinnest foldable smartphone available, Honor has made significant improvements to design, performance, battery life, and durability, ditching the V4 name altogether and making the Magic V5 a unique offering in the high-end foldable market.

Measuring just 8.8mm thick when folded and a mere 4.1mm/4.2mm unfolded (depending on the color), the Honor Magic V5 redefines slim in the foldable phone segment. The Ivory White variant is the lightest at 217g, while the Black, Dawn Gold, and Reddish Brown colors weigh 222g.

Building on the IPX8 rating of the Magic V3, the new IP58 and IP59 certifications bring improved water resistance and added dust protection_ a rarity in foldable phones. This makes the Magic V5 more durable and reliable in a variety of environments.

A 12% increase in battery capacity is one of the most notable features. All-day endurance is provided by the Honor Magic V5's 6,100mAh silicon-carbon battery in China and 5,820mAh worldwide. It ensures little downtime by supporting 50W wireless charging and 66W wired fast charging.

The outer display is a 6.43-inch 120Hz LTPO OLED with a resolution of 2376x1060 pixels and a peak brightness of 5,000 nits. The inner folding screen expands to 7.95 inches with a resolution of 2352x2172 pixels and the same brightness and refresh rate. Honor uses its Anti-scratch NanoCrystal Shield for the outer screen and Super Armored Inner Screen protection for durability.

Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the new triple-lens setup: 50MP f/1.6 wide-angle camera, New 50MP f/2.0 ultrawide lens (upgraded from 40MP), and 64MP 70mm f/2.5 telephoto camera with a larger 1/2.0" sensor for clearer zoom shots. Selfies are covered with dual 20MP f/2.2 front-facing cameras—one on each display.
